About Asheville…
It’s almost impossible to sum up Asheville in a paragraph, postcard, or of course, a bunch of links. But, we’ve simply put together a few of our favorite around town connections to give you a feel for the area. Drop us a line if we’ve missed a few of your favorites and we’ll see what we can do to add them to the page.
The Beer
Asheville Pizza and Brewing [LINK] - Tour Stop! The “Brew N’ View” is one of the best places in town to get a feel for Asheville’s flair. $2 gets you a movie seat and a few bucks more can get you a great beer and a huge mix of food (super pizza of course).
French Broad Brewing [LINK] - Tour Stop! Close to the Bilmtore Estates, live music several nights a week… and naturally, really great beer - including many speciality brews.
Highland Brewing Company [LINK] - Tour Stop!In the heart of downtown Asheville, Highland Brewing is still at their original location, and still creating some of the best beer in the Southeast.
The place to buy the Beer
Bruisin’ Ales [LINK] -“Bruisin’ Ales is Asheville’s first specialty beer store. It’s pure “beerlanthropy” for the greater good. We specialize in Belgians, Belgian-style, high-gravity, craft brews, microbrews and the very best available beers from around the world.” - Excerpt from Bruisin’ Ales website, http://www.bruisin-ales.com
The City
Asheville Now [LINK] -A great source of info on everything Asheville… and one heck of a nice website. More features are due in the future, but for now it’s a perfect source for info on area happenings.
Asheville’s Official Tourism Web Site [LINK] -The name mostly explains it, but to go from there… a good site to find anything and everything that is pro-Asheville.
The City of Asheville [LINK] -The city government’s site… a little bit of everything (especially under the Visitor’s link). The site is a little tough to navigate, but has a great deal of info on the area.
The Asheville Chamber of Commerce [LINK] -The Chamber’s site picks up where the gov’s site leaves off, and is a bit easier on the eyes (and easier to find what you’re looking for).
Mountain Xpress Weekly [LINK] -The Mountain Xpress is one of the area’s indenpendent publications, focused on entertainment and the arts. Their site also provides in-depth food and event listings.
Asheville Citizen Times [LINK] -The main newspaper in town - also a Gannett paper (think USA Today style). The AC-T carries local, regional and national news, as well as good deal of classifieds.
