Welcome to our Team – Ellie Yahn

Allow us to introduce Ellie Yahn, a Portland resident and graduate from the University of Maine Orono, who joins our administrative team.

Starting school in 2011, Ellie studied Journalism, Art History, and finished her degree traveling to the Pacific Northwest with NOLS, the National Outdoor Leadership School.

Also at UMO, she volunteered for Call to Care Uganda, a non-profit out of Madison Ct., as Social Media Director and Grant Research assistant. She was able to travel to Western Uganda with CTCU in 2012.

“That trip really changed my life,” Yahn explained. “I had never seen such genuinely happy people in such a tough situation, it really put things into perspective for me.”

Ellie came from a small town located in the northwest corner of Connecticut called Sharon. Nestled in the foothills of the Berkshires and between the Hudson Valley, her appreciation for the wilderness continued to grow and so did her indescribable desire to go to Maine when she had finished high school.

“Maine became my home very quickly,” Yahn explains. “I remember when I first moved to Orono and to Portland I felt the same way. I had never felt so welcome in a new place before.”

Since then she has never looked back. After graduation, Ellie has spent her last year working in Portland for Portland Beer Week 2016 and for The Thirsty Pig, a local beer bar on Exchange St.

Fascinated by the impressive amount of new breweries in Portland, Ellie discovered a new direction her writing degree could take…BEER!

“When I first moved to Portland, it felt like there was a new brewery or distillery popping up around every corner,” Ellie told us. “I knew I wanted to be a part of it.”

With her writing background and her interest in history and craft alcohol, she now works with us at The Maine Brew Bus as our Administrative Coordinator.

So go on and give Ellie a call so she can help Drive You to Drink Local!
