Special Note About Capacity Limits In Maine

Updated April 27, 2021 – The State of Maine has several restrictions in place for group sizes which currently limits our ability to provide a full assortment of private tour options. The information presented here supersedes potential conflicting details which may be found elsewhere on our website.

shapeBreweries, wineries, and distilleries in Maine are now allowed to welcome guests for seated food and drink service inside their facilities with limits on overall capacity and group sizes. Please note that not every establishment has made the decision to allow this on their premises.

The state guidelines for seated food and drink service as in a restaurant remain in place at this time, “The maximum group party size is 8 people. Patrons must remain with their dining party and not mix with other dining parties.”

In addition, restaurants have to provide physical distancing between tables and stay within total capacity limits.

  • Effective March 26, 2021, through May 23, 2021: 50% of permitted occupancy or 50 persons, whichever is greater.
  • Effective May 24, 2021, and thereafter: 75% of permitted occupancy or 50 persons, whichever is greater.

In addition, “There is no requirement to wear face coverings outside unless it is difficult to maintain physical distancing. Customers must wear masks indoors at all times, including when seated at the table, except while eating or drinking. Customers are asked to put on their face covering any time there is waitstaff at the table (e.g., when taking orders, delivering food or drink, busing tables).”

Finally, all guests must be seated. “All patrons at tables, bars, and counters must have a seat and must be in their seats except when walking in, picking up their order (if applicable), traveling to and from the restroom, and leaving the establishment. Customers should not stand/mingle in any counter or bar area (i.e., groups should not interact with each other).”

See COVID19 Prevention Checklist Industry Guidance – Checklist for Seated Food and Drink Service for more details.
